If you had problems accessing missionfreak.com, you weren’t alone. Our host WordPress had upkeep and improvement projects scheduled through the weekend which extended into the week. This post is a bit on the late side, but it’s free music and it’s the debut of what we hope will be many posts from Mission Freak friend Gregory Markus.

After making huge waves in basements across the US, Indiana foursome Native got picked up last fall by post-rock loving Sargent House and just released their first full-length, Wrestling Moves. Filled with melody and angst, Wrestling Moves is a showcase of what can happen when friends get together and make music for the joy of playing it live. Native pride themselves on their live show. In addition to stomping reverb and loop pedals guitarist Ed O’Neil stomps a light trigger bringing the four-some in and out of darkness in cadence with the rise and fall of their song’s structure. Their live show is something spectacular. And as most of you have missed their 2 trips to Iowa City once in the Bro House (RIP) basement and once in the art exhibit room of PS One, Native are coming back to the Picador to showcase their shtick on the “big” stage. So come get your ears blown off by their wall of guitar/bass cabs and groove until they stop.
