Freakin’ Fundraisin’ Weekend: 11.12 & 11.13
As you probably know, we love Public Space ONE around here. That may be due to the fact that many of us book shows or volunteer our time to the venue (full disclosure), but it’s still pretty cool. However, even with our almost blind, motherly love for the all-ages basement hang-out, we’ll admit that it needs some improvements here and there. After an upgrade in the PA department, we’re looking for a few more upgrades. Some other friends of the venue had the same idea.
Thursday
Living Ghost w. Alex Body, Oh! Kuso, Coyote Slingshot, Horse Petal, Beast Wars, and the potential additions / 9 pm / Donations
Thursday’s benefit is pert near a one-man band bill (brah!). Oh! Kuso‘s Stonesy-groove and Beast Wars’ dance-punk bring the members on an otherwise spare gathering of one-man wonders. Dan Davis takes a break from Be Kind to Your Neighbor to noodle ’round on his own as Living Ghost, while Alex Body turns knobs instead of tickling keys for 12 Cannons, Dom Rabalais a/k/a Coyote Slingshot gets psyched-up to take a break from Porno Galactica, and loopy, phych-folker Horse Petal tops the whole thing off. Look for PS1 volunteers walking around with containers for donations, every little bit helps.
Friday
HOTT w. Pacific Proving Ground and Acoustic Guillotine / 9 pm / $5
University of Iowa freshman and math as fuck rockers Pacific Proving Ground, make a triumphant return to the hallowed basement with heavy as hell two-man wrecking crew Acoustic Guillotine. There’s also the momentous debut of the newly formed glamed-out punkers HOTT.
Another debut: Pacific Proving Ground will shine a light on their second record, Librum. Look down there and get yourself a free cut from the upcoming sophomore release from these UI freshman.
