Mission Creek Festival Preview: Pocahaunted

Okay, boys and girls, it’s finally here. Mission Creek 2010 starts off with a bang tonight as Pocahaunted leads some fine noise makers into the fray at Gabe’s.

Pocahaunted has seen some shake up in the last year. Founding member Bethany Cosentino left to concentrate on school and Best Coast, leaving the other original member, Amanda Brown, to soldier on. She’s not going it alone, however, Brown’s picked up a crack team of some of the Los Angeles area’s finest avant-garde, lo-fi, and noise talent: husband Britt Brown (Robedoor), Cameron Stallones (Sun Araw), Diva Dompe (BlackBlack), and Ged Gengras (Antique Brothers).

To go along with a new band, Pocahaunted is repping a new album, Make it Real. The band’s latest sports a warmer, more dense sound. It may be reading too much into the group’s influence, but strains of Robedoor and Sun Araw really rear their head.

Pocahaunted is swinging by the KRUI studio for a friendly little interview at 4:45. Turn the dial to 89.7 FM or catch all the action streaming here.
