Freakin’ Weekend: 04.08-04.10
You recovered from last weekend? Yeah, me neither. Over here I think we’re all a little exhausted still, and maybe feeling a little relief that the main event is over and done with. I don’t blame anyone for laying kinda low this week. But a new weekend is upon us already, and the scene in Iowa City never rests. Behold, even more music and cool stuff to do this weekend. Oh, and yeah: baseball!
Thursday
Black Keys Post-Show Party / Yacht Club / 9pm / $5
A lot of folks surely have tickets to this evenings sold-out show with the Black Keys at the IMU. For those who need to keep rocking after, as well as those who didn’t get one, there’s a post-show party down at the Yacht Club with Shame Train, Josh Bohnsack, and James Edel and the Wise Fools. Those Yacht Clubbers sure know how to have a good time — I’d expect the same tonight.
Friday
G-Spot Hair Design Show / Mill / 7pm / $6 adv, $8 day of
A great event from an iconic Iowa City business for a good cause: The G-Spot fashion show is always a good time, and this time will be no exception. Proceeds from ticket sales and the raffle will go toward helping the Red Cross provide aid to Haiti. School of Flyentology are MCing this shit. Come celebrate the 10th anniversary of the G-Spot.
Saturday
Deer Tick with Those Darlins and Shame Train / Mill / 8pm / $10 adv, $12 day of
Oh, man. Here we go again: every time Deer Tick comes to town it manages to become even more epic than the time before, with the performances at the Mill becoming the stuff of legends. Don’t miss this chance to slug whiskey and sing along to all yer fave Deer Tick numbers. Sunday morning will not be kind to you after this one, but it’s going to be worth it.
