The Present Beware: It’s Starting
Today is the 28th of March, and the Mission Creek festival begins. Pretty much every media organization save the Press-Citizen (because they are too busy writing the police blotter) is covering it. Each side has their own angle and approach. KRUI is doing live work down in Public Space One all week, trying to talk to as many bands as possible during the day. Little Village is just doing them, covering as much as humanly possible and taking footage/photos/audio when they can. Over here at Mission Creek, we have an advantage that they don’t: we don’t have to pay to go to stuff. It’s one of the upsides of organizing the festival.
The upside of this is that we don’t have to be committed to one place. We are, instead, allowed free movement a lot of the time. This is going to provide for a totally different look to this festival from what our compatriots are doing. Each day, the members of the Mission Creek staff will be posting a running travelogue during the course of this festival. I know I will have a daily update. It might be long. It might be short. It’ll probably be posted at like 3 in the morning.
If you want to know where I am, a generally good sign will be my bike. I ride a Trek 2300. It’s in the picture. Mine has neon bar tape, and I’ll know if you steal it, so don’t. I’ll be down in Public Space One whenever I have free time, so throw me a pound. I’m not hard to miss. I’m 6′ 3, Black, and dreadlocked. Try to miss me. I guess this qualifies as the start of my posting schedule.
Last note: some of my posts will be cross-posted over at Little Village. If you’re over there, see my name and the content seems the same, that’s the reason why.
